Since launching "shortmetina.com" just about a year ago; I am constantly asked questions ranging from, what charting tools do you use?  Preferred Broker?  And a range of other things stock related.  In the spirit of addressing these questions all at once; as opposed to individually; I thought it would be beneficial to create a FREE resource list for everyone’s convenience.

Please do remember that this is a sharing community and if there’s a site that I have not listed; please do so in the comment section and this list will be updated.  I Hope you find the FREE resource list helpful.

FREE Brokers

If you're going to trade stocks; this is something you simply can not go around!  Everyone needs an online broker if they are to trade stocks.  The type of broker you use will be highly depend on your style of trading (day, swing, etc) and the size of your account.  Up until recently; most online brokers charged a fee via commission to execute a trade.  That is; until RobinHood came along.
I have not used the program, so I can't vouch for it; however; I do like the concept.

Robinhood

 Minimum Deposit: None
Commission: None

FREE Stock Charting Tools

I would say an overwhelming 85% of my trading style is technical analysis.  Chart reading is a skill I’ve developed over the years and it’s a great way for me to decide when to buy and/or sell a stock without combing through hours (or days) of financial information.
Even though my broker provides a charting tool as an add-on; I simply loathe their charting software and find myself looking elsewhere for my charting needs.  If you’re like me and prefer another charting service without the hefty price tag, look into the ones listed below.  You can utilize them for FREE.

Stockcharts.com
Freestockcharts.com
Barchart.com
Tradingview.com
Finviz.com

FREE
Stock Scanners/Screeners

Yahoo Finance
I typically use this tool to see what stock has gained the most/lost the most within the day.  Also a good place to filter by “high volume”.

Nasdaq (Pre Market/After Hours)
Look to this source to see what stocks are moving (by percentage) pre-market and after-hours.
Information is useful for day trading/ day traders.

Finviz.com
A good stock screener all around.  You can screen by technicals, fundamentals, large cap, small cap, etc.  Give it a try.

FREE Stock Community

Let’s be honest; trading can be a lonely endeavor if you’re not a part of a trading chart room or some online community.  When I want to detach from the world of politics; I find myself on these sites talking to my fellow traders about stocks.

Twitter Finance
To get to the finance part make sure to filter by "hashtag" and your stocks ticker (eg: $AAPL).

Stocktwits
Come here to talk stocks and ONLY stocks.

Investfeed
Come here to talk stocks and you have the option to follow folks who's trades are verified!

Seekingalpha

There is no shortage of opinions on this site. For every Bull, there is a Bear.

FREE Short Information

I find these sites are helpful in determining, percentage of shares short.  Days to cover, percentage of a stock shorted on any given day, etc.

Shortsqueeze.com
Finviz.com
Nasdaq.com

FREE Stock News

Every morning when I wake up; I typically utilize the drop down stock list on my Apple Iphone and click on any stocks respective symbol for news regarding the company.  Outside of that you can find some "informative" articles on these sites listed below:

Yahoo Finance

Seeking Alpha
CNBC
Bloomberg
Market Watch
