New Year, New You (Trader/Speculator)

New Year, New You (Trader/Speculator). The New Years did not have the best kick off for the markets, however, while the markets ($SPY, $DJIA, $IWM, $COMP) were down about 2-4%, my stocks are UP about 15%.  Why is that?  I study the markets, trade with a plan and like my saying goes, “control yourself, and don’t let the markets control you”.

While past performance is not indicative of future performance, history tends to repeat itself in the markets.  We can use historical data to inform our decision-making process as we trade.

I want you to ponder that as you venture out on what I know will be a profitable 2016.
My first suggestion?  Buy yourself a journal and document all your trades for the New Year.  This will give YOU better insight into your trading style. In addition, document whatever stands out to you about the markets on a particular day.  Any, "ah ha" moment.
A better assessment, should most certainly lead to better outcomes.   But you must first start by assessing your trades and the markets.   This is a must!  My trading results improved tremendously because of this and I believe yours will too.  For more information and an example of what a trading journal should look like, go to shortmetina.com and sign up to be notified on when we go live and for additional resources.

Now that we’ve got that shameless plug out of the way, let’s wrap up.  Why is it that I am up on all 3 trades I placed today (one of which is up 30%), while the market is down?   I did my homework and I prepared for today.

I leave you with this, in order to make 2016 a profitable year, you must enter the market at your most optimal.
Start with buying yourself a trading journal and begin studying every single one of your trades.

Good, Bad or Ugly.  Please leave a comment on any social media site of your choice.  If you learned something today, hastag, “shortmetina” somewhere and join my mailing list.
